Extruder Thermal Blanket Project
Williston, VT
AJ Williston installed thermal blankets on two extruders and one dryer between 2022 & 2023. The blankets allow a significant energy savings of about 22,000 kWh per year per blanket. It also reduces the need for AC cooling in the production environment. All or part of the blankets can be removed in the colder months to benefit from the machine heat.

I’m proud to work with people who are committed to saving energy. Our products are designed to minimize the energy required to remove water from and dry paper and packaging materials, minimize the energy required to operate the large electric motors that drive our customers’ machines, and we even manufacture regionally so shipping distances are as short as possible. All of us at AstenJohnson are doing our part to save energy all over the world.

Solar Panels
Eupen, Belgium
In addition to the replacement of old lights with LED lights, AstenJohnson Eupen installed solar panels on site in 2017. In late 2022, AstenJohnson Eupen tripled its solar capacity by installing more solar panels. This initiative enabled AstenJohnson to increase the portion of green energy of total energy consumption.
The total installation has a maximum capacity of 725 MWc. The panels installed allow an annual CO2 reduction of 500 tons on average.

Cogeneration Unit
Eupen, Belgium
In August 2023, AstenJohnson Eupen, in Belgium, installed a state-of-the-art cogeneration plant. This initiative, which combines both ecology and economy, marks a significant step towards a more environmentally friendly industrial future for AstenJohnson.
The innovation itself lies in the production of electricity during the heating process. With efficiencies of up to 90%, cogeneration increases the efficiency of conventional heating systems, reduces energy costs, lowers the carbon footprint and reduces thermal waste.
This dual environmental and economic initiative demonstrates the company's determination to reconcile economic growth with environmental responsibility.
