Environment

As one of our values, sustainability is central to who we are as an organization. We must address some big challenges, such as climate risk, biodiversity loss, rising inequality and the need for a circular economy. After conducting a materiality matrix in 2020 following the GRI methodology, we were able to determine areas of focus as well as sustainability themes to work toward. Three of the six sustainability themes defined are especially related to the environmental pillar of sustainability:

  • Collaborate with partners to create circular opportunities
  • Carefully manage our use of natural resources for future generations
  • Reduce our climate impact

While our efforts toward more sustainable business practices are diverse, we have formulated three Environmental Global KPIs to track and report on our progress.

Governance

Moving toward sustainability presents challenges but most of all exciting opportunities, especially to create partnerships with customers, suppliers, and the communities where we live and work. Sustainability therefore creates openings to move together to drive sustainable growth with greater collaboration and partnerships. Together, we can keep innovating for the best of our customers, our planet, and ourselves!

Two of our sustainability themes are focused on the governance pillar of sustainability:

  • Collaborate with partners to create circular opportunities
  • Act responsibly in procurement and engage with supplier partnerships

The AstenJohnson Code of Conduct reflects our core values, as well as our commitment to conduct our affairs in accordance with the highest standards of integrity and applicable laws. The Code of Conduct is public and can be found on our website: AstenJohnson - Code of Conduct & Ethics. The internal Anti-Bribery Policy and Competition Compliance Policy emphasizes our commitment as a company to the highest ethical, professional, and legal standards. In addition to the Code of Conduct and the Anti-Bribery Policy, we have a whistleblower procedure in place (EthicsPoint - AstenJohnson). We encourage our associates to say something if they see something.

Our internal Third-party Vetting and Monitoring Policy supplements our Anti-Bribery Policy by guiding associates in both performing vetting of Covered Third Parties and monitoring the subsequent activities of these Covered Third Parties.

In 2020, we implemented our Sustainable Procurement Policy that translated our responsibilities and values in sustainability over our supply chain. The Sustainable Procurement Policy is public and can be consulted on our website: AstenJohnson — Sustainability.

Always remember to act in the present, while thinking about the future.
